SMS marketing in MONDAi reaches your audience where response rates are highest — average open rate for SMS is above 90%, compared to 25–40% for email. The tradeoff is a higher consent requirement and a lower tolerance for irrelevant messages. Done right, it is the most direct channel you have.
Phone Number Setup
Go to Settings → Phone Numbers
Purchase or verify a phone number through MONDAi. Local numbers tend to have better deliverability than toll-free.
Register for A2P 10DLC (US only)
US regulations require brand and campaign registration for application-to-person SMS. This is required before sending broadcast SMS in the US. MONDAi guides you through the registration process.
Allow time for A2P approval
Approval typically takes 1–5 business days.
Compliance Requirements
- Contacts must have explicitly opted in to receive SMS from you
- Every SMS must include opt-out instructions: "Reply STOP to unsubscribe"
- Do not send outside of normal business hours in the recipient's timezone
- A2P 10DLC registration is legally required for US bulk SMS
Send a Broadcast SMS
Go to Email Marketing → SMS Campaigns or Conversations → Bulk SMS
Location may vary slightly by account setup.
Select your recipient list
Only include contacts with verified SMS opt-in.
Write your message
Under 160 characters for a single message credit. Include opt-out instructions.
Schedule or send immediately
- Not completing A2P 10DLC registration before sending US bulk SMS — unregistered SMS will be blocked.
- Sending to contacts who have not explicitly opted in to SMS.
- Sending promotional SMS late at night or early morning.
- Writing an SMS message that is too long — over 160 characters splits into multiple messages and multiple credits.
