Sometimes you need to stop a workflow immediately — an email has an error, a campaign is paused, a product is temporarily unavailable. MONDAi gives you control over what happens to contacts currently inside a workflow when you pause or stop it.
Pause vs Stop
Pause (set to Inactive): No new contacts enter. Contacts already inside continue through their scheduled steps.
Remove active contacts: Exits contacts from the workflow immediately — no further actions fire.
How to Pause a Workflow
Go to Automation → Workflows
Find the active workflow.
Toggle the status from Active to Inactive
No new contacts enter. Existing contacts continue.
How to Remove Active Contacts
Open the workflow and navigate to Active Contacts or History view
Select the contacts to remove
Select all or specific contacts.
Click Remove from Workflow
These contacts exit immediately.
- Pausing a workflow and assuming all contacts inside stop — pausing only blocks new entries.
- Stopping a workflow that other workflows depend on — check for downstream automations first.
- Not documenting why a workflow was paused.
- Removing all contacts without reviewing who is mid-sequence.
