How to Create a Course

Build and publish your first course in MONDAi. Create modules, add lessons, upload content, and get your offer ready for students step by step.

A course in MONDAi is built in three layers: the course container, the modules inside it, and the lessons inside each module. Each layer has its own settings — title, description, thumbnail, access rules. Work from the outside in and the structure comes together cleanly.

The course builder lives inside the Memberships section — a dedicated environment for digital content that operates separately from your marketing pages and funnels. It's the same infrastructure that powers GoHighLevel's membership product, configured here for coaches and creators building structured learning experiences.

Tip

Before you start

Have your content plan ready — know your module titles and lesson sequence before building. Also have a course thumbnail (recommended: 1280×720px JPG or PNG) and any video files ready.

Course Structure Overview

Course → contains Modules → which contain Lessons. Each lesson holds your actual content: video, text, PDF, or audio. Plan this hierarchy before you open the builder.

Steps

  1. Go to Memberships → Courses

Click the Memberships icon in the left sidebar, then select Courses.

  2. Click Create Course

Select + Create Course and give the course an internal name.

  3. Complete course details

Name it, add a description, upload a thumbnail, and configure access settings: free, paid (triggered by product purchase), or manually granted.

  4. Create your first module

Click Add Module. Name the module and write a short description.

  5. Add lessons to the module

Inside the module, click Add Lesson. Each lesson can hold video, text, audio, or PDF content.

  6. Upload or embed lesson content

Video: Upload directly or embed from Vimeo/YouTube (embed recommended for large files). PDF: Upload directly. Text: Use the built-in editor.

  7. Repeat for each module and lesson

You can save draft lessons and add content later — build the structure first.

  8. Set the course to Published

Toggle from Draft to Published. Only published courses are visible to students.

Common mistakes
  • Building all lessons before testing the student experience — create the first module and lesson, grant yourself test access, confirm what students see before building out the rest.
  • Leaving the course in Draft status — Draft means invisible to students. Publish when ready.
  • Uploading very large video files directly — host on Vimeo and embed for a faster, more reliable experience.
  • Not connecting a product to the course — if the course requires purchase, the product connection triggers automatic enrollment.
