How to Set Up Recurring Subscriptions

Recurring subscriptions are the infrastructure of predictable revenue. A new subscriber in January is still paying in July. Getting the technical setup right — billing intervals, failed payment handling, access management — is what turns a subscription offer into a reliable business model.

Settings → Subscriptions and emails. Configure smart retry logic: Stripe attempts to collect failed payments on a schedule before marking the subscription as cancelled.

Configure Stripe to send automatic payment failure notifications to subscribers.

Build a failed payment workflow in MONDAi
Create a workflow triggered by payment failure that sends a direct email from you: 'Hey — your payment did not go through. Update your card here: [link]'

Configure access revocation on cancellation
Confirm membership access is removed when the subscription is cancelled.

Test the full cycle
Use Stripe test mode to simulate a subscription, a renewal, a failed payment, and a cancellation.
