Custom values are reusable data variables stored at the account level. You define them once — your business name, your website URL, your booking calendar link, your program start date — and insert them wherever they are needed across emails, pages, and workflows using a merge tag. When the value changes, you update it in one place and it updates everywhere automatically.
The Practical Use Case
Without custom values: your booking link appears in twelve different emails. You change your Calendly to your MONDAi calendar. You now need to find and update all twelve emails manually. With custom values: your booking link is stored as {{custom_values.booking_link}}. You update the variable once. All twelve emails update instantly.
How to Set Them Up
Go to Settings → Custom Values
Click Add Custom Value
Give the value a clear name
Examples: booking_link, website_url, program_name, support_email.
Enter the value
The actual URL, name, or text you want to store.
Save
Copy the merge tag shown — you will paste this into emails and pages.
Where to Use Custom Values
- Email subject lines and body copy
- Workflow SMS messages
- Funnel page text sections
- Email templates in the footer or header
The merge tag format is typically {{custom_values.value_name}}. Check the exact format in your account — it may vary slightly.
- Setting up custom values but not using them — they only save time if they replace the hardcoded versions in your existing emails.
- Naming custom values unclearly — use descriptive snake_case names.
- Using custom values for content that changes frequently without a clear update process.
- Not testing that merge tags are resolving correctly before a broadcast — send a test email to yourself first.
