How to Create a Quiz Inside Your Course

Add knowledge-check quizzes to your MONDAi course lessons to improve retention and add a completion requirement before students progress.

Note

Note

Quizzes in MONDAi are built as a lesson type within a module. They can be set to require a passing score before the student can progress to the next lesson.

Quizzes serve two purposes: they reinforce learning by requiring active recall, and they give you data on where students are struggling. A well-placed quiz at the end of each module is better for completion and transformation than passive video consumption alone.

Steps

  1. Open the course in edit mode

Go to Memberships → Courses and click edit on your course.

  2. Add a new lesson and select Quiz type

Inside the module where you want the quiz, click Add Lesson. For the lesson type, select Quiz.

  3. Name the quiz lesson

Give it a clear name: Module 1 Knowledge Check or Week 2 Review Quiz.

  4. Add questions

Click Add Question for each question. Supported types: Multiple Choice (one correct answer), Multi-Select (multiple correct answers), and True/False. For each question: write the question, add answer options, and mark the correct answer(s).

  5. Set the passing score

Enter the minimum percentage required to pass. 70–80% is a reasonable threshold for most educational content.

  6. Configure completion requirement

Toggle on Require passing score to progress if you want students to pass before accessing the next lesson. This is optional — some creators prefer unblocked progression with quizzes as self-assessment only.

Quiz Design Principles

Test application, not memorisation. "According to the lesson, what percentage..." tests memory. "If a client says X, which approach would you use..." tests understanding.

5–10 questions per module quiz. Enough to be meaningful, short enough that students do not avoid it.

Allow retakes. A quiz that blocks progress with no retake creates frustration, not learning. Allow retakes with a short wait period between attempts.

Common mistakes
  • Questions that are too easy or too hard. Calibrate difficulty so a student who engaged with the lesson can pass. Trick questions teach avoidance.
  • Blocking progression too aggressively. A student stuck on a quiz module who cannot move forward will disengage. Allow unlimited retakes.
  • No quiz feedback. If possible, show the student which questions they got wrong and why. Feedback is where the learning happens.
