Running Google Ads without conversion tracking is spending money without knowing what it is buying. Click volume tells you how many people arrived at your page. Conversion tracking tells you how many of those people submitted a form, booked a call, or completed a purchase — and which specific ad, keyword, and audience drove each one.
Steps
Set up a conversion action in Google Ads
In your Google Ads account, go to Tools → Conversions → New Conversion Action. Choose Website. Set the conversion goal: form submission, purchase, or page view on a thank you page.
Copy the Google Tag code
Google provides a global site tag and an event snippet. Copy both.
Add the global site tag to your MONDAi funnel pages
In the funnel step settings, find the header tracking code field. Paste the global site tag here. Add it to every step in the funnel.
Add the event snippet to your conversion page
The event snippet only goes on the page that signals a completed conversion — your thank you page or confirmation page. Add it to the footer tracking code field of that specific step.
Verify in Google Tag Assistant
Install the Google Tag Assistant Chrome extension. Visit your funnel pages in a browser. Confirm the tags are firing correctly.
Confirming the Setup Works
After installing the tags, run a test conversion — submit your form or complete a test checkout. In Google Ads, go to Conversions and check for a test conversion recorded within a few hours. It may take up to 24 hours to appear. Google Tag Assistant shows real-time tag firing status for immediate verification.
- Adding the event snippet to every page instead of only the conversion page — this counts every page view as a conversion.
- Forgetting the global site tag on the landing page — the tag must be present on every page the visitor touches to track the journey.
- Not testing before running live ad spend.
- Only tracking clicks — clicks without conversion data cannot tell you which keywords are profitable.
